Our Story

Sydney Monahan, the founder of Avenza Fitness and Wellness Consulting, embarked on this venture after observing a widespread sense of complacency in individuals who suffered from joint pain, limited mobility, constant fatigue, and an overwhelming anxiety or confusion on where to begin their fitness journey. Sydney firmly believed that these challenges could be overcome with education, support, and access to skilled professionals who can guide them through the steps necessary to create change towards their goals. This is when Avenza Fitness and Wellness Consulting came to fruition, a platform that comes to you. We recognize the potential for positive change through lifestyle and preventative medicine. Our mission is to meet you where you are and push you toward your health and fitness goals.


About Sydney

Founder of Avenza Fitness and Wellness

      Sydney Monahan, the founder of Avenza Fitness and Wellness Consulting, is an evidence based Personal Trainer, who specializes in Lifestyle clients.

      She graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences and a minor in Nutrition. Sydney is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and is in school to become a Licensed Massage Therapist.

    Sydney is also involved in designing and conducting research with the Exercise Science Department at the University of South Florida. She was published on the  "Comparison of Macronutrient-based Tracking vs. Intuitive Eating for Increasing Protein Intakes in Females Initiating a Resistance Training Program," which was presented at the 19th International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) Conference. She continues to work in research and help lead the industry in evidence based practices.

       She was a College Athlete and competed for the University of South Florida's Sailing Team. She helped her team qualify for Women's Team Race Nationals in 2022 and the Finals for Women's Fleet Race Nationals in 2023. She is now a Level 2 US Sailing Coach working at Sarasota Yacht Club.
